Summary of Position:

As Seabrook continues to grow and develop our mountain bike trails, it has become clear that full time trail building staff will be needed. The Lead Trail Builder’s primary function is to work with Seabrook management to design, layout and construct new trails, as well as maintain and modify existing trails. The Lead Trail Builder will take a hands on approach as well as guide and direct a team of trail builders in the field. This position requires strong trail building skills, hard work in often inclement weather and above all a passion for mountain biking.  This is a full time, year round position. Tools will be provided.


Location:  Seabrook Wa. and surrounding areas.


  • Assist and advise Seabrook Management and Leaders with all trail construction and maintenance activities and decisions.
  • Assist in developing and managing trail building budget.
  • Instruct and supervise other trail builders and volunteers as needed.
  • Ensure work is performed according to objectives and standards.
  • Communicate work progress and issues to Seabrook Management
  • Ensure hand tools are stocked, organized and in good working order
  • Help manage equipment, tools, refreshments, sign-in sheets, waivers & work party logistics.
  • Represent Seabrook in a positive, professional manner at all times. Excellent communication and Leadership skills required.
  • Capable mountain bike skills with ability to ride all skill levels of trail.


  • A strong trail building skill set and a positive attitude.
  • Desire and ability to work hard and with minimal oversight.
  • A high level of strength is not necessary but endurance and fitness are critical.
  • Ability to work in often harsh, wet conditions.
  • Work happens even in cold and wet weather and the ability to maintain team spirit in those conditions is important.
  • Basic proficiency with Word, Excel and Email.
  • Familiar with mapping tools such as GPS, GPX, KMZ and KML
  • Passion for trail building, growing the sport of mountain biking and working with volunteers.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record and reliable personal vehicle.
  • Excavator and chainsaw operation experience and skills highly desired.
